Bankruptcy - Attorney Fees
CHAPTER 7 CASES (Personal Only - No Business Bankruptcies)
(The Firm does not currently handle other types of bankruptcy cases, but we can refer you to an attorney who does handle them)
Hourly rate - $400 (Basic), $480 (Complex)
Initial review of income documents (in cases involving multiple source of income; inconsistent income; former business income; or income that is close to the maximum median income ceiling) - $400-$1600
Single person (with income below median average) - $4000
Married couple (with income below median average) - $4800
Single person (with income ABOVE median average) - $5600
Married couple (with income ABOVE median average) - $6000
Cases involving personal business income - Add $1200 minimum
Cases involving more than 20 creditors - Add $800 (per extra 10)
Complex Cases - $8000 minimum
File Proof of Claim - $1600 - $3200
The above fees cover the standard services necessary in an uncontested bankruptcy case. Contested matters (responses to motions to lift stay, objections to objections & discharge, depositions, and any contested hearing, etc), and requests for additional information from the US Trustee are billed at a rate of $400.00 - $480.00 an hour. This usually only happens in a very small percentage of cases (less than 1%), and we can usually tell in advance if the case is going to be contested for some reason.
